Air quality certificate - Heavy vehicles, buses, and coaches
The Crit’Air air quality certificate is a secure sticker on the vehicle, showing its environmental class, according to the air pollutants it emits.
This certificate is required to drive in the low emission zones imposed by some local authorities (see list of communities), or to drive during when differentiated traffic schemes are in effect during pollution spikes.
There are 6 classes of certificate. The certificate promotes vehicles with lower emission levels:

0: 100% electric or hydrogen-powered vehicles |

1: Petrol (gasoline) vehicles (Euro 6) registered since 1 January 2014. LPG or rechargeable hybrid vehicles. |

2: Petrol (gasoline) vehicles (Euro 5) registered between 1 October 2009 and 31 December 2010. Diesel vehicles (Euro 6) registered since 1 January 2014. |
